Firefighter Tattoos: A Symbol of Bravery and Courage
Our firefighters are some of the most respected people and professions that we have in the world. After 9/11, we as a nation rediscovered how much bravery and courage it takes to be a firefighter. Firefighters risk their lives every day to make sure that you and your families are safe. They are a proud group of people who are united as a fraternity of brothers. To symbolize their devotion to their trade, firefighters acquire tattoos of firefighter origin that represent what they do for a living.
Firefighters give you a sense of security while you sleep or while you are away from home. Wherever you are they are doing their and proving their ability to provide safety of our belongings and our lives. There are many designs for firefighter tattoos and some firefighters choose to get an insignia of their fire fighting unit. Some of these designs include a shield, a helmet, a axe, an inner cross with a shield, or a badge that signifies the unit in which the firefighter is based. Most fire stations have their own emblem as a matter of their pride.
Each firefighter may get the tattoo of an emblem on their body. They proudly display the tattoo to be a representation of what they love and want to do. Other firefighters have obscure tattoos that represent the rescue nature of their business. Guardian angel tattoos with wings that are lifting a child from danger, or sending a person to be taken out of the depths of hell, are a few of the tattoos that symbolize safety and security. Other firefighters take a darker turn when they are picking out a tattoo for themselves. Some firefighters have chosen to put pictures of demons, fires from hell, or flames on their body to represent the danger in which they put themselves in every day. These devil tattoos can be constant reminders that fires cause lasting damage and detrimental scars those physically and emotionally.
Other firefighters like using the early day firefighter techniques of Christian belief. A firefighter gets a feeling of protection and at the same time they feel they are doing a job sanctioned by a higher purpose. Many firefighters have an Irish heritage which they are fiercely proud of. These firefighters of Irish background sometimes get celtic tattoos of shamrocks, leprechauns, or other tattoos of Celtic decent. It is meant to represent the tradition of their Celtic ancestors. Sometimes a Shamrock is intertwined with the firehouse symbol to indicate a imagery of the Irish heritage and their actual workplace.
If you are a firefighter looking for a tattoo, there are many sites on the web where you can search for a variety of firefighting symbols and tattoos. Visit your local tattoo artist and see what they can offer to you. You may have to travel to find a tattoo artist who can assist you in creating and designing firefighting tattoos, whether these may be something already existing, or ones of your own designs.
